I recently found out my niece is in her 9th month at concorde miramar florida. I am a bit worried since it seems not to be fully accredited. I am hoping some1 can give me some insight as to what schools she will be able to further continue her education to get a BSN ect. I'm also shocked at how expensive this school is. Yikes. She didnt mention any of this to our family until recently I think she's paying like 40k for a ADN when I got a ADN years and years ago it was like 5k at a local community college. I know most hospitals here now are looking to transition to BSN only eventually so as an old worried ant i worry :) All your answers i am grateful for!

You are right to be concerned BIG TIME. It is a TECH SCHOOL which have been notorious for multiple, multiple problems.
There are several postings here on AN re the school - don't know if you've checked them out. But do so.
Personally, I don't know the references to contact re accreditation, but without the correct ones, her 'credits' will be all but worthless to transfer for a BSN and perhaps, an MSN. You'll prob find them as you check out postings here. And I'm sure some of our 'wise ones' will most likely provide the sites. They are find-able.
She'll also need to worry about passing her NCLEX based on her training (NOT known to be good pass rates for many tech schools).
And many employers 'round file' applications of grads of many tech schools as they find the education inferior.
Your niece prob figured she could enter school quickly (no wait lists, so-so grades, no pre-reqs etc) but she pays literally with huge costs and other problems as I've just noted.
She needs to cut her losses if what is suspected re her program. (And even that might be an i$$ue).
Thank you so much for your response. You confirmed exactly what I was thinking and fearful of. I've been out of this field so long. Seems like things are so different now. When I was a nurse most people either went to the local community college and/or the university. I feel like these non-accredited expensive schools are almost like traps. But then again students should do their research! I agree I think its time she cut her losses. She doesnt have her parents here so I plan to attempt to talk her into cutting losses with this Concorde program and getting into a real school. I need to find out if its her grades or the prereq's or what the problem is. I hope she isnt stuck because of that. If she is I will help fund a better for profit school that is accredited if necessary (if she doesnt make it into a state school). I've heard of chamberlain, keiser what are your opinions of these? Maybe since she's early in she can clep test out of some classes to not totally loose time?
On its web site the Concorde program did have an accreditation, but I didn't know who it was. Is it enough for its grads to sit NCLEX? It must be if there ARE grads becoming licensed by FL BON. But Tech course credits are freq 'hybrid' or school design specific. Those tech credits don't usually match traditional established schools. The student/grad just has a paper full of non-transferable courses.
Another concern is to determine HOW she's funding the program's costs. Once monies are paid or IOU'd, students have found it is difficult, if not impossible, to recoup refunds. You'll need to read the admission contract carefully. Tech programs have their cadre of 'legal eagles' so their contracts may be very difficult to break.
It's a shame your niece didn't check with you for advice. As I said, there are numerous postings here re various Tech schools and I guess even Better Business Bureau may have info. I've never looked into those programs - I've been a pre-tech school 'dinosaur' nurse for eons.

I NEED HELP!!! Im looking to go to Concorde or Southeastern College but I'm scared because I now they are NOT accredited and I want to attend either FAU, Nova, or etc for my BSN. Im currently withdrew from Broward RN program. TOOOO stressful and they are extremely rude professors (who i low-key think looks to fail you). Yes I know you deal with those types of people throughout your life but my gosh...But I do have my AA from Broward (the pre-req courses) so do you guys think since I'm doing my AS to receive my RN license those RN-BSN programs will accept my credits??
