Hi everyone! I am planning to take my certification exam for Nursing Informatics and I would like to get some advice on what are the best review materials or review classes online I can get. Thanks!

If you use the search box, you can see other threads on this topic.

I'm linking to one where somebody posted some materials.

Hi, Jan.

I've looked at all of the links and threads that have been listed, and I don't see anything current. Have you had any luck?

Specializes in Health Informatics.

I just did the NI certification exam today and passed it, so I thought I'd share some tips with you.

I used Informatics Nurse Exam Secrets - Study Guide by Mometrix Test Preparation. I found this study guide to be concise, although I think this would be ideal for nurses with some background in informatics already (obtained through coursework and/or field experience).

I only used the study guide above. I also work in health informatics and have been involved in multiple clinical IS rollouts in the past plus I've taken few courses in informatics in the past (years ago), so I was able to draw from my experience and knowledge in project management, systems implementation, and data management. Having said all these, I still found the exam quite challenging because of how the questions were laid out.

There were 175 questions. Lots of situational questions around systems deployment planning, evaluation, training, policies, and standardized terminologies. I also found that there were numerous questions about team dynamics and theories about group development. And of course, you get IT-related questions about computers, data, databases, and interoperability. Lastly, I think it's really helpful to have good test-taking skills -- like always focusing on the key words in the question so you don't get lost in the middle of answering those questions and distracted by the multiple answers that all seem to be correct :)

Clin_Informatics_RN, thanks for sharing. Congratulations!

I am also looking into taking my certification exam--anyone have information on the CE credits they earned (where from, expenses, etc)?
