Newbie

Hi I just joined this site literally 5 minutes ago. I am considering a career in nursing, again newbie could be my name. I graduated High School in 1979 so if you do your math you'll find I'm not a recent High School Graduate. Since I am at the very beginning stage I am looking for info on the Pre Entrance Exam for LPN. I'm told its a Teas 5 exam so any help would be great. Where can I get info on what to study for the test? The reason I ask is I don't want to drive myself crazy going over subjects that will have nothing to do with the test. I sure Hope someone can help me with getting started. Thanks

Have you looked into what programs you are interested in? They often require prerequisites completed in the last 7 years or so...especially core science classes. If that's the case, you should probably start there first as the TEAS V exam is usually taken after the prerequisites and within a year of your application to nursing school. Otherwise, you may just have to take it again to meet that window of time requirement.

I am currently trying to get into the nursing program at my school and graduated 98. The TEAS is killing me. I scored a 67% the first time and a 69% the second time. My program likes mid 70's. It's the hardest test I've ever taken. It covers everything. I did not take chemistry in high school so I'm lost on a great deal of that. The science covers human body, life, earth, chemistry & scientific reasoning, math goes into algebra, percentages, fractions, data interpretation, the reading/English are a lot of sentence/text structure. It's a hard test. Especially hard for those of us who are not recent graduates.
