newbie needs a checklist!

I am going to start out on travel nursing in a couple months or so. Any advice on what to absolutely bring?

We are going probably in an rv and I dont want to forget anything.

Plus, once you get to your assignment, is there any "must-do items", like get your drivers license for that state, or make sure I.........

Any help here would be greatly appreciated! :)

Get yourself a small file box (one that holds the hanging file folders - I got one a Walmart that has a handle on top) for all your vital papers - insurance papers, info for vehicles, nursing licensing info and empty files to put your info in while on assignment.

Most of us tend to overpack when starting out - whatever you take you won't need half of it :chuckle . I generally do not pack anything that is cheap and easy to get when I get there - just find the nearest Dollar store to get paper towel, tp, cleaning supplies, etc,. The only foodstuffs I take from place to place are spices, salt, pepper, etc.

Do take your camera - I've had a great time taking photos of all the new places.

As for "must do", I don't change my driver's license with each assignment - since I am temporary and have a permanent home. The first thing I do when arriving at a new town is stop as I come into town and buy a local street map so I can find my way to local addresses. I call ahead to set up phone service and sometimes cable. If AOL doesn't have a local access number, I usually wait until I get there to find a local provider.

Good luck!
