Newbie - Need some help

Hello,

Love this site, hope you can help me out.

I am new to allnurses, I have a few questions for EC students:

1) Do you think is better to take A&P, Micro at a community college or through EC exam? How did you do yours?

2) How can I take an ec exam without enrolling? or can I?

3) Should I finish all prereqs before applying or should I apply and get the credit eval first?

I will be attempting to transfer courses to EC, I have 60 general ed credits. I just need the bio classes and a computer course.

What are my options?

Thanks

i am new to allnurses, i have a few questions for ec students:

1) do you think is better to take a&p, micro at a community college or through ec exam? how did you do yours? :idea:take it at excelsior, with your education should be a lot quicker

2) how can i take an ec exam without enrolling? or can i? you must enroll

3) should i finish all prereqs before applying or should i apply and get the credit eval first? finish prereqs first. :twocents:the annual fee will be a waste of money if you enroll too early

i will be attempting to transfer courses to ec, i have 60 general ed credits. i just need the bio classes and a computer course. did you mean the nursing blocks? the cpne is a long wait also. took me 6 months to get one

:mnnnrsngrk:

I am taking A&P online was just too much info for me in one test with Excelsior but that is me everyone is different. The first thing I would do is pay the $75 and apply and see what you need to take. As for taking nursing exams before you pay the $875 to excelsior you can take the Health and Safety and Transitions exams before enrolling.

You are allowed to take two courses prior to being enrolled, which are Health and Safety and Roles of Transition to RN.

I took all of my prereqs at another college prior to EC.

Get your official evaluation from ec to eliminate fees that are not required.

Remember to always use the college advisors to ask as many questions as you like. They are there to help you.

You can take all your pre-reqs and 2 nursing exams before enrolling.

I did all my pre-req first, then knocked out the nursing. You can do some, then do some while you are waiting. I would do A&P first, since correlates to the nursing courses. that's just me. some people do it at the very last, and do just fine.

I took Micro and A&P through ECE, but you need to check with your state board to make sure a lab component is not required to sit for boards. Some states require it, some dont. Louisiana & Texas do not, I dont know about any others.

As far as the general credits, they usually accept the general ed you have already earned.

You will need to have your transcripts sent to ECE. The required pre reqs are English Compostion, Lifespan Developement Psych, Micro, A&P, Sociology...I also did Analysis of Lit to get the rest of my Humanities credits, but they would take ethics, american lit, engish lit, ect.

If you haven't already, you will have to set up a user account on ECE website, get your student ID number - all free!!! Then you can go to the exams, register for the exam you wish to take. You cannot register for any nursing except Health & Safety and Transitions to RN until you are enrolled.

Good lucK!!! Hope this helps some!!!

Thanks for the help. I would like to take the A&P first through EC, what do I need to do when I ready to test?

if you have an excelsior account already, sign in - go to schedule exams. Find anatomy & physiology - you'll pay online, and in 2 days you will be able to go onto pearsonvue site and schedule your test date at a pearson site near you. you'll also have to create an account with pearson. both are free registrations. if you schedule with pearson over the phone it cost about $15 so i just did mine online.
