Hi all!
It's been a while that I've heard about allnurses.com and have visited on a few occasions but didn't had a chance to register and become a member. I have realized that there is a worldwide community of nurses willing to help and share their experience so I finally I decided to be part of it.
First of all I want to share my story and hopefully it could be an inspiration to some. I have been working as critical care nurse for 15 years. I have started my career as an ICU nurse in Philippines then worked in Saudi Arabia as SICU nurse for 5 years. I've meet my wife who is also a nurse while I was working in middle east. I have worked with nurses from all over the world Americans, Canadian, British, Irish, Swedish, German, South Africans, Indians and of course Filipinos. While working with them I have gained valuable experience. I have so many wonderful experienced and memories while working in middle east.
Then finally we have decided to move on and had an opportunity and been offered a job in United Kingdom in 2000. I am working in Intensive care as an ICU charge nurse. I am the first and the only Filipino charge nurse in this hospital hence extremely grateful of my achievement.
My brother in America recently petitioned my mother hence these past few months we have decided that moving accross the atlantic will be an ideal option for us family to be together.
I have applied for an nclex exam at the end July for the state of texas and was given an ATT for 2 months. I thought that it was a very short notice unlike other states. Anyway I have studied hard this past 2 months and took the exam last Oct. 2 and thankfully I'ved PASSED the exam. Now I am after a fresh challenge and looking forward to finding a job in America and be with my family once again.
Apologies for the title of my thread it simply means that I am new to the site not really a very important announcement.

Well :welcome: what state in the good ole USA will you reside in? There are many needs for nurses here and they vary so much city to city. You may have a bit of culture shock, but having worked with such a variety of people, you'll have an easier time adjusting to our differences. Wish you well with your move, being with family is a wonderful reason to come, I'm sure they're excited. Congrats on passing the test, after so many years out of school, the basics are hard to get back to!

Hi and welcome to the site
Congrats on passing the NCLEX and now it is a case of wait for retrogression to shift. Check out the International forum as plenty written there on the subject. Good luck on finding a job

yeah Congrats to you..im pretty sure you will find a job here in no time!!!!
Thank you so much for all your inspiring message.
Now guys I need to ask as to what will be the next step. I've only knew that I passed thru "quick results" and I haven't received official confirmation from Texas BON yet. Will I be able to look for an employer already? I also understand that there is an ongoing retrogression in America, Is there anything that I can do to speed up the application process if ever I could find an employer? Once again many thanks guys!
I don't know much about the Texas board, but there isn't any reason why you can't be looking for a job now. You definitely can't practice as a nurse until you actually get your license number, but I got hired into my job months before I even took my boards!
