New to psych

Hello,

I am a veteran nurse with 30 years of experience in Med Surg, Critical Care, and ER (no real psych experience) I have decided to look into mental health nursing. I recently started a new job and will be working at an inpatient psych-substance abuse unit. I am looking for any recommendations for books, pocketguides or anything else that will help me catch up. It's been years since I've been in school, so I need to brush up and use as a quick resource at work. Any recommendations for a book or guide thats actually useful...I don't need something that has sample care plans. It should have pharmacology and info on diagnosis and helpful communication techniques

Thanks!

Hello,

I would check out books and courses by https://www.amazon.com/Alison-Lighthall-Miller/e/B09HJDZW23/ref=aufs_dp_mata_mbl

while the books are geared toward taking the ANCC RN psychiatric mental health nursing exam her course work is valuable. You can find other stuff online that she offers outside of Amazon but this was easiest for me to find (I don’t make anything for prompting her and her coursework). She does prep course which is a great way to learn quickly.
