New Grad to the OR?

New grads do very well in the OR.

Good, I was hoping to get a positive answer since I really want to do it but also don't what to be overwhelmed.

At first, you will feel a little overwhelmed, honestly. It's a new ballpark, it's fast-paced, and it can be stressful at times. But, still, a new grad xan do well, it's all in how you handle it.

I agree with Marie! Hopefully they have a great OR nurse educator. Is it possible for you to shadow an OR nurse for a couple of shifts?

I am glad it is fast paced I need that, I am a bit of a busy body and stop paying attention if it doesn't move quickly, drives some people crazy but has been coming in handy for nursing.

I have worked LTC and it is like torture for me, so slow, so slow. People think it is so busy but I feel like it is so slow.

So good that is also good news. LTC is not for me and I thought this would be a good opportunity.

From what I understand we are in the classroom for about a month and then shadow for quite a while. The whole orientation is 6 months and they will give longer if we need it. I thought that sounded like quite a long time. Do you think it is wrong to get so specialized in the beginning?

May sound like a long time but it'll be over before you know it.

You are so right- I thought nursing school was never going to end and here I am!
