I'm in a wonderful, yet difficult situation. I will be graduating in May as an RN. I have two job offers on the table right now. One is in a critical care unit and one is in the emergency department. Both offer the same pay. Both are at the same hospital. Both are night shift positions, however the ED says I could be put on mid shift eventually (11am-11pm). I'm a super compassionate person, but I'm also young and so I'm kind of quiet. I have to decide by Friday on which one I want. Does anyone have any input for me? Im desperate!
Thanks :)

First thing, do you have any preference for any specialty over the other? If one specialty attracts you the most, then it will be easier to go to work every day, since you'll be liking what you do.
If they are equally the same, do you have access to see which department is better in terms of staff?
Once I chose a job based on the hours. I took the more convenient (at least for me) 11am to 11pm shift, instead of the usual 7am to 7p shift. My unit turned out to be full of nurses who wouldn't even answer the call lights; I once floated to the other unit where I had decided not to take the job, and the people on that unit were amazing! I ended up handing my resignation from my unit.
