NEW CMS REGULATIONS

I am just wondering how everyone feels about the new CMS regulation that just went into effect whereas all medications have to be crushed and administered seperately even givrn PO. I know that their multiple reasons behind this are all sound: interactions, clogged tubes, not knowing exactly what meds they took should they spit the applesauce, etc.

We all now how time consuming and impractical this is especially in LTC where you have multiple patients that have to have their meds crushed. This along with polypharmacy and the simple fact that if you have ever worked in LTC you know that you are lucky to get one bite of applesauce in some people and that multiple bites aint happening.
