Im from nepal. Just finished 3 year pcl nursing from nepal. My husband is from USA. So, i want to give Cgfns exam for RN. I have already given Toefl exam too but the score is just 67. Speaking 23. I don't have any idea what to do for next. Need some help.......

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Only a handful of states require CGFNS exam. If you do not need to do it for the state you plan on living and working in I would suggest you do not do it. NCLEX is all you need to pass otherwise.

Thank u for ur suggest. Now m in washington state and what im planning is to go to south carolina state to give nclex exam cause they dont require cgfns. And there is my relatives too. But m confused that i will get registered from south carolina as RN. then can i work in washington state with that license? Or i can jus do work over there? Now i do have valid social security card here. And my foreign nursing license too.

Thank u!

Unless the 2 states are part of the compact state and your permanent residency is in the state where you obtain a license then you can not work without obtaining a license in the state you have permanent residency and plan to work.

For example

Your Permanent residency is in state AZ and you get a job in TX and maintain Permanent residency in AZ then you can work in TX with AZ license. However if you move Permanent residency from AZ to TX and work you have to apply to the TX state BON for a license.

South Carolina is part of the compact state however Washington state isn't therefore you will still have to meet Washington state requirements when endorsing as you have to have a license in Washington state allowing you to work as a nurse
