Hello all -
I'm a LPN student and I'm in my second term but having the hardest time maintaining my B average, I've dropped to a C average and I'm not such a happy camper. There are some medical issues that came up with me and now I'm a little discouraged about continuing with my schooling and right now I feel as if I'm all alone in this, any suggestions?

Never feel that you are alone during nursing school. Trust, me after the first week of my first term I was ready to quit because the amount of work needed to be done. I still felt the same after my second term when I just barely passed with a 75 (the requirement at most programs). You just gotta believe in yourself that things will get better. Thinking the negative will cause you to worry more and I know that's easier than done however; there are many nursing students and nurses on here that have battled through it and graduated their respective programs. If we can get through it, you can to. For those medical issues, I hope they have gotten better.

Hello,
I feel your pain. I suffer from terminal conditions along with the "going through nursing school" stress. You have to keep reminding yourself as to why you decided to do this school in the first place. And understand that your fellow peers may be experiencing the same stress if not similar, which means you're not alone :)
Don't get discouraged ! The longer you train yourself to work hard all the time and use this stress as fuel to drive you forward, the easier it gets ! Don't give up !

My friend has lupus. She was actually pregnant when we were taking our fundamentals test, and had to leave in the middle of the test to go to the hospital to have her baby. Throughout nursing school she had flareups, and this was a 2-year course. The unfortunate thing about the program is that we were only allowed a maximum of 40 missed hours, so for each day our hours would be recorded. I believe she was cutting close, but she made it. Despite everything, she graduated nursing school!
I don't know if you're religious. If so, pray and keep pushing on. Try to keep maintaining a positive attitude. There are a bunch of helpful youtube channels that are devoted to nursing school. The only one on my mind right now (because it's easy to remember) is RegisteredNurseRN. But you can type in "nursing" along with "system" or whatever rotation you're in. You should find plenty of helpful videos. If you're having trouble with anatomy, you can try Khan academy which is free.
Make friends with your classmates and maybe try and form a study group. Have you spoken to your instructors or administration? LPN schools vary. The one I went to was a vocational school, but I know there's an LPN program at the local community college. They have access to counseling services. Do you have such an option to get counseling? I'm wishing you the best! Don't give up!
