Need a preceptor

Published

I am a very non-traditional student completing her MSN/FNP at 60. I have two clinical rotations left, and done! I live in rural Northwestern Ohio, and am having the worst time finding a preceptor for Peds., which starts Feb. 2nd. I must have an NP, she/he must have an MSN (we have a few NPs who were "grandfathered in" when the nurse practice act changed who don't have MSNs.) The practice does not need to be exclusively peds, but should include a reasonable amount of children. The closest cities are Bowling Green and Defiance; Defiance is actually a little closer. Suggestions? Any help would garner eternal gratitude!

You might try asking the nursing department director for guidance in this matter as they are always helpful and have great leads in the preceptor community.

Especially since Peds is one of the easier preceptorships to obtain next to OB/GYN.

Go to Nurse Practitioner Associations & Organizations. Locate your state and organization. Copy and paste the organization name into the search engine. You might have to join the organization to access the preceptor directory. Send emails to several (20-30 or more) preceptors or NP. I hope that this helps.
