need a little PUSH

Hi everyone,:D

Well i am soon to be 21 years old, just finished to be a certified medical assistant(thought it would be a good start to make money for my major). My main focus NOW is to be a Registered Nurse. I talked to a counselor and basically said, "okay how do i go about this, im a little lost." I know im pretty young but i feel so STUCK and confused:bugeyes:. My goal is to do everything i want to do, have a career i love and enjoy and feel satisfied by the time i get married and have kids one day.

The problem is the college i currently attend is not in my district so im not allowed to do the nursing program there. My counselor suggested i go do an LPN program somewhere else and then i would be able to return with my license to do my degree "when you get married or something" without having to live in the district. I know RN is heavy work, but geeze i needed more encouragement from her. LPN sounds great, but its not much difference from pay rate as an MA, and i really wanted to go full force to get an associates and become an RN. Am i just jumping WAY TOO ahead of myself?? Is there a benefit from doing LPN and then doing Associates for RN? Or is the thought of going straight to another college that will accept me and finish my degree at a steady pace truly whats best? I know so many questions, but i know all of you know so much and i would appreciate your opinions. Thanks:redbeathe

Hello. I planned on becoming a RN one day and decided to go to school to become a LPN first and then go back to school at my own pace. I became a LPN, got married and five years later I have never went back to school and at this point in my life I don't want to. There are many jobs in my area as a LPN and I have a job that I am happy with and I make a very good salary. So I know this isn't advice and probably not very helpful but I just want you to know that as I got older and settled into my life with my husband my desire to go to school left me and while that may not be your case (not everyone is as unmotivated as me :wink2:) I hope that you go as far with your career as you dream to. Best of luck to you in planning your future and remember you are young and have your whole life ahead of you...so go for your dreams.
