I'm taking the hesi in two weeks. I've been studying the newest evolve book and I found anatomy notes online. I took the hesi before without science and got 85%. The nursing program I'm applying to is competitive an I want an A badly. Any advice on how to get a high score? I also would like to know what were the hardest types of questions for Bio and chem. THANX!!

I took the Hesi this morning... Bio questions included a lot about RNA and DNA transcription (a-t, c-g). Cell organelles and function, anaerobic vs aerobic respiration. Chem was all basic! No stoichemitry questions. Just more atomic mass, proton, neutron, electrons.... I did well got a 91.3. Good luck!

im taking the test this tuesday, and im kind of stressing about the vocab part. the vocab in the book seems fairly easy, is it the same on the test? and for grammar did they have like where to place the comma in a sentence questions?

Good luck this Tuesday!! I remember grammar was like the easiest part for me even without studying for it. You should be fine. I don't remember specifically about the commas. For vocab all I remember were that some words came from the study guide but not all. I took it like 3 years ago tho. I don't know if it's changed that much.

I took the HESI a week ago and found the grammar portion the easiest. I got a 92 overall but my school only requires the Math, Reading, Vocab sections, although I studied for the science and A&P. (whew) I don't remember many questions about commas, but there were a few questions you had to identify the correct form of there, their and they're, its and it's. There were a few sentences that had the words from and form switched around as well as lots of questions about using the right tense of verbs, etc. The vocab was tougher but some of it was medical terms and understanding the difference between prognosis, diagnosis, subjective, objective, assessment, etc., etc. I hope that helps! Good Luck to you both!

I took it and got a 92% on the A and P section. The A and P questions are as varied as A and P topics, but they aren't generally hard. Ex. Where would you find the gastrocnemius? 1. arm 2. leg 3. back 4. head. The mitral valve is where? It is all multiple choice. If you've had A and P, just review the systems.

Good luck!

@rory92 how did you do?

Yes its very easy and very much like whats in the test prep book. Some of the questions are exactly the same

My school was the same. Thankfully no A/P. My school just uses the HESI to weed out people.

@michelle561 i got an 85, vocab pulled me down

Oh ok. Was there any spelling in the vocab?

no spelling. it was things like : select the meaning of the underlined word in the sentence. They had a couple words from the evolve book so review them. In the grammar they had questions like which sentence is grammatically correct? a) The nurse came home form the hospital. b) The nurse come home from the hospital. c) The nurse home comes from the hospital. d) The nurse came home from the hospital.
