Need Help with Teaching Plan

Good Morning Everyone-

Just wanted to start off by saying this is my first post but I have been reading the posts for months. This site has been very benefical.

I am currently having issues with putting together a teaching plan and coming up with the correct diagnosis.

I want to teach ROM for a resident who has Parkinson's.

The diagnosis that I have come up with is Deficient Knowledge (of the benefits of ROM exercises). This stuff is all new to me.

My paper consists of the following:

Assessment, learning need identified, Stated in NANDA format, principles of teaching/learning addressed, learning outcomes id, content outlined, teaching methods, possible modifications and evaluation.

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

your teaching plan is going to be based on your assessment of the patient. look at the defining characteristics that are listed under the nursing diagnosis of deficient knowledge ([color=#3366ff]deficient knowledge (specify)). your patient's symptoms (defining characteristics) should closely match some of those:

  • exaggerated behaviors
  • inaccurate follow through of instruction
  • inaccurate performance of a test
  • inappropriate behaviors (e.g. hysterical, hostile, agitated, apathetic)
  • verbalization of the problem

then, your teaching plan (nursing interventions for the nursing diagnosis) address those symptoms and you can get quite specific with them since you are trying to teach the patient something.

are you sure the patient had deficient knowledge and is not a diagnosis of readiness for enhanced knowledge ([color=#3366ff]readiness for enhanced knowledge (specify))? look at the definition of each of these diagnoses and make sure you have diagnosed the patient correctly.

According to my assessment: I chose-

Readiness for Enhanced Knowledge.
