Need help with infection question!!!

I hope someone can help! I have went over the text with a fine tooth comb to no avail...any ideas is helpful:confused:

The case is a bruised heart and fluid between the membranes, ruptured spleen, painful knee, punctured lung, enlarged lymph nodes and a bone protruding from his forearm:

The question is

Which body system has been stimulated to fight off infection?

A. Integumentary system

B. Immune system

C. Lymphatic system

D. All the above

Is it C?

Thank you so much for any help!!!

I would have chosen answer C since swollen lymph nodes are indicative to infection. None of the other options indicate the inflammation process.

I would think it's D.

A is stimulated because of "bones protruding from arm". I'm not so sure about this one.

B is stimulated because there is an outside entry of bone leading to immune response plus puncture to the lungs also causes immune response (to fight of bacterias and stopping the blood)

C because of obvious enlargement of lymph nodes and fluid between membrane (is it pericarditis?)

I know B and C are correct but since you can only choose one answer, I would think D is the correct answer.

Good luck!

hmm the question, as writen, asks for a singular response......

Thank you guys! I have to have my answer presented today! Hope the answer is C!!!!:yeah:

I'd choose B... the immune system fights infection. Yes, some lymphatic tissue has concentrations of leukocytes but it is the immune system that is stimulated to fight infection. The lymphatic system is basically a transport system. The integumentary system is an infection barrier, not an active infection fighter.

Let us know the correct answer.

I will do that. I should get my test back next week. I changed my answer to D for all the above.

I'm on the Immune System. The answer is B. Great question. The Inflammatory Response presents in the Immune System for the tissue damage (Internal defense). Adaptive defense is also in the Immunse System for infection.

The Immune system covers both Internal and Adaptive defenses.
