hi
im considering going into psych nursing
i have a ba; pschology, several other courses, certificates
I like to work in a setting where im in charge. i like to be in control. I like alot of freedom. I like different things each day. Im more analytical. Terrible with my hands i cant build or fix anything if asked, Cept when i cook-i like to cook
I dont like having the boss look over my shoulder all day.
have no problem with needles i drew blood a couple of times. kinda liked it.
volunteered last year at a nursing home and loved it. The people and the feeling i got was everything. They made me feel so wanted and good.
Im attending mlsc now. But i hate it. When im in chemistry lab the teacher is all over me. At the end i come out im shaking and super confused.
changing now is no biggie. psch nursing is 3 years for me and mlsc is 2 more years.
Im just wondering if psych nursing is for me?
thanks Dan

If you like different things everyday, you may want to re-think psych nursing..
Change in psych patients happens slooooooowly..........
thanks
I wasn;t saying change just variety.
MLSC doesnt have variety.
you do benchwork. One day you might do 200 1/2 dulutions in a shift. You might do this for 30 days.

I don't know much about Psyche except I worked there during my clinical rotation. In my opinion your personality would be a good fit d/t the fact you like to be in charge. You have to have a strong personality or else the psyche patients will take advantage. I tend to be a push over so it definitely wouldn't work for me, however it sounds like a great career choice for you. You can work your way up to management. Go for it! You will never know until you try. Good Luck!
