i graduated from a bscn program @ york u in toronto in 2006, i then went to Africa and have been practicing their for the last 6 years never got my license in Africa now im back in Canada i applied to do the CRNE and they want to see proof of licensing and work experience. WHat do i do i dont want to go back to school? I can provide the work expereince but i am afraid that is not good enough. Any suggestions would be great.

Is it legal to practice nursing without a licence in the African country you were working in?

If it is legal, can the nursing regulating body verify this?

Do you have a valid reason for not obtaining a licence?

If yes, write a letter to CNO explaining the reasons you did not become licensed and have the regulating body provide verification.

Otherwise, if you were practising nursing illegally in Africa, do not even consider trying to become a nurse in Canada without re-education.
