Hello everyone,
I haven't been on this forum in a while but I saw that slots for the NCP are filling up fast. I don't graduate until May 2015. Do you believe I still have a chance of getting into the NCP program?
Thanks for your help!

The Air Force doesn't actually have a nurse candidate program. If you are looking at Navy, just keep going until your recruiter says it is closed. Things can change. And change again.

I agree with OakTown2. Definitely keep applying. When I was working on my application for the NCP, there were plenty of times when I thought there was no way I'd ever be accepted...but I somehow got it. Let your recruiter guide you along. The application process is really on/off, hot/cold. There's no way for most of us on the forum to know how many slots are left for your year. The only way to know if you'll make it is to try!
Thanks everyone! The recruiter called me earlier and left a message on my voice mail. For some reason, I'm nervous to call him back! I'm not really sure what I should say, any suggestions?
Needless to say, thank you! I will continue with this in hopes of getting accepted. Congrats elisabethm on your acceptance! Best of luck :)

CSUnursegirl2b,
I will also graduate in 2015 with my BSN and plan on applying for the NCP. Did you ever call your recruiter back? I'm curious about what he said.
Good luck!

Hi Elisabethm I am actually interested in the NCP as well. Can you tell me what your GPA was when you were accepted for the program?
Hi Parker.Jaime!
I first visited my recruiter in March 2012 and started working on my packet late August/early September 2012. I found out I had been accepted on April 29, 2013 and signed my paperwork the first week of May. I had a 3.8 GPA. No medical (or really any work) experience. Come from a military family and had 1.5 semesters of experience with Army ROTC. I have no idea what the average GPA in the program is, but I would still recommend applying. Even if your GPA isn't stellar, at least try talking to a recruiter. You'll never know if you're what they're looking for unless you try. The board looks at more than just a person's GPA. The interview is also a fundamental piece of the application.
Elisabethm,
So did you submit your package for the October boards, or is there a board that meets in spring as well? I am starting my package right now and I know there is no way I will meet the deadline for package submission for the October boards.
Rlbrown,
Honestly, I don't know if I made the October boards or not. (I don't think I did, but I can't remember.) My application was really stop and go. I would submit everything and think I was done, then my recruiter would call me again and be like "Hey! They need just one more form!" (This happened to me like 5 or 6 times.) I think I submitted my last form in February, but I honestly can't remember. I'm pretty sure my interview was sometime in the Spring 2013 semester, too. People on this forum talk about an October board all the time, but I'm pretty sure they meet multiple times a year. From my understanding, it's basically a rolling admissions system. Each graduating class has X number of spots (I think 70 but it might be 35), and they keep accepting people until those spots are filled. It's best to get your stuff in as quickly as you can because if you wait your class' spots might fill up. Just get everything in when your recruiter tells you to, and you should be fine.
Thanks Elisabethm! I too keep hearing about October boards, but from reading between the lines, I'd have to say there is a board held in the spring time as well. I'm really hoping there's one!
I was not the only one who was accepted in the spring. If you check the NCP 2014 role call thread, there are at least a few others who were accepted in April as well. You should still try to make the October deadline, especially if that's what your recruiter is telling you. But if you don't make it, all hope is not lost!
