nclex in 2 weeks

Published

hey everyone,

I am taking the NCLEX-RN on June 10 and I've been studying a lot but I was looking for some feedback about how specific the maternity questions are on the exam. I got an A in the class but I'm having a hard time with this section during studying. I know the difficulty of the questions depends on how you are answering the questions but I'm just not sure if it's worth spending a ton of time studying maternity when I could be focusing on something more general, like med surg.

Thanks :)

Hi

good luck on your exam.

The test itself is very random. I can speak from my own experience with 3 times taking nclex- 1 PN and 2 RN.

i passed PN exam in my first attempt. I didn't pass my RN on my first try because I didn't study at all after traveling all over the world after school. Anyway, my first RN contains so many questions on maternity more like 10-15 questions. And most or all of them are prioritizing type of questions.

Second time, I had way too many psychiatric questions range from pediatric to geriatric, behavior/mental to substance abuse.

Of course, Med surg and lab value are important since I had to apply those knowledges to maternity questions.

My recommendation is to review everything. Make sure to review prioritizing books. It seems to me there are many of those in my tests and all of my friends who took it already.

PS. I'm not an A student. I was an ESL nursing student who struggled the whole time in nursing school. But I managed to graduate and passed both my PN and RN Nclex.

thanks for the help! I just graduated at the beginning of May so I have no clue what to expect. None of my classmates have taken it yet so I'm trying to review everything. Did you take the HESI exit exam? I've heard it is supposed to predict how well you'll do on the actual NCLEX but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

Thanks!!

I did take HESI exit score lower than 700. I didn't read book or care much at that time since it didn't determine what're or not I would be graduated. My instructor said some people scored around 1000 and took NCLEX 3 times. Many of my friends scored under 800 and passed nclex on first attempt. From my experience, HESI doesn't really predict much. Depends on your ability of taking test, knowledge and anxiety. I had severe anxiety when I took for the first time. Second time around, I was more prepared and zero out my anxiety.
