I passed my NCLEX in 75 questions first attempt. First I want to say thank you to everyone who shared their story on allnurses.com. I read many of the stories and used them as a motivation to be successful on my NCLEX.
I want to share my experience with everyone. I know many people will not find my method of preparation helpful but I am sure there are others who will.
After graduation, I took the first week off. I didn't do anything NCLEX related. I was exhausted from being in an accelerated nursing program and working on the weekends for 2 and 1/2 years and needed a break.
The second week after graduation, I started putting my plan together on how to pass the dreadful NCLEX. I first started using the Saunders Comprehensive Review. I used that book throughout my whole NCLEX preparation. Then after I received my authorization to test and scheduled my NCLEX, I started the HURST review DVD that I borrowed from my friend. I scheduled my NCLEX for 8/12 and started the HURST review on 7/18.
I went through the whole DVD on the HURST review within a week. I also purchased the Kaplan Q Bank. I used UWorld as well for practice questions and did about 55% of the Med Master course. After completing the HURST I went back over the topics that I felt as though I needed to review. I did all 1300 Kaplan Q Bank questions.
Each day I would do 50-200 practice questions and review the rationales and write them down in a book. I tried to understand why I missed the questions that I missed. I studied like a junkie everyday for 10-12 hours (which I am not by any means recommending because it was unhealthy and made me sick) except the days I worked. I did this up until 2 days before the NCLEX.
My NCLEX was on a Wednesday. The Monday before the NCLEX, I felt so sick. I had stressed myself out and was exhausted. I did about 150 questions throughout the whole day but reviewed no content. The day before the NCLEX, I got up did 75 questions early in the morning and was done. I took a shower, got dressed and drove to Macon GA because my NCLEX testing center was 104 miles from home. I stayed overnight at a hotel. I got to Macon pretty early around 1pm in the afternoon. I checked in, looked over a few lab values then went to visit the testing center.
I made sure I was familiar with the testing center so I wouldn't have to be stressed out trying to find the center the day of the exam. I found the vending machine and the restroom at the testing center (lol). I then went out to eat and relaxed by the pool until about 7:30 pm that evening. I then went back to my hotel room, showered and watched tv. I went to bed around 10pm but woke up every few hours because I was anxious.
Morning of the NCLEX I was up at 5:45 am although my exam wasn't scheduled until 11. I went to get breakfast at Dunkin Donuts around 8am, returned to the hotel, ate then showered. I mediated and prayed for about 30 mins in the bathroom to clear my mind. I left out around 10 am to to check out of the hotel and head to the testing center.
Arrived at the testing center at 10:20am. I stayed at a hotel 3 miles away from the testing center. At the testing center I was greeted by the sweetest, most friendly lady who checked me in and allowed me start my exam early. She said "honey the quicker you get in, the quicker you get out."
I started my NCLEX at 1040 and was done by 1300. I had 75 questions and the computer shut off. The NCLEX was not that hard to me at all. Kaplan is waaaaaay harder!!!!! I scored so low on the Kaplan (between 58-73) lol. I had about 25 SATA, alot of prioritization, infection control, isolation, delegation and exhibits to interpret data; but I passed!!!!
When I was finish with the NCLEX I knew I had passed. I did not feel stressed out throughout the exam. The NCLEX was not that hard to me and I did not see anything on it that I was not familiar with. After the exam I did the Pearson Vue trick and could not re-register. I knew for sure that I had passed. Then the next morning at 0800 my license was posted on the BON in GA.
I was officially an RN. Yay!!!!!! If I can do it, you guys can definitely do it to!!!!! My advise is make sure you know your content and then use questions to reinforce the content. Start with your weakest areas first. Make a plan and stick to it. Be consistent and DO NOT second guess or change your answers on the NCLEX. Practice, practice, practice. The more you practice, the better you become. Stay focused and keep that confidence. You are the nurse and be confident in that.
Best wishes and God bless. One Love.

Hello! Thank you so much for sharing your story. You are an inspiration! I am currently studying for NCLEX-RN. Do you mind sharing your MedMaster access with me? I read that it is lifetime access.
I would also like to keep in touch with you, if that is okay with you. My study plan is VERY SIMILAR with the one you had.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks so much.
