I want to buy a book to help me study for the NCLEX, but theres so many out there. Does anyone have any recommendations? Ive heard the the saunders Q&A is good. But whats the difference between the regular and comprehensive??

I have the Saunders Comprehensive Review (3 ed.) but I don't know what the difference is. I thought this book was the most helpful not only studying for NCLEX, but also for studying throughout school. It breaks down the material by body system with separate sections for Peds, OB, and Psych. When I didn't understand something fully, or just needed a down-and-dirty reference, I pulled out this book many times. I also bought the Kaplan book and the Incredibly Easy book, but I found the Saunders to be the easiest to use.

I also attended the 2-week Kaplan review course and found it to be exceptional in preparing for the NCLEX. Saunders is good for reviewing content, but the questions are not a good representation of actual NCLEX questions. The Kaplan course teaches you HOW to approach NCLEX questions and learn what NCLEX is looking for. I also found their Qbank questions to be very close to NCLEX.

Good luck in your preparation.

I also used the Saunders book and found it very easy to read and did the comprehensive reviews. I also loved the cd that came with it. You can do study, quiz or exam mode and break the tests you take into specific catagories that you want to do. I loved that because certain areas I was weak in I could do an exam just on that part instead of covering everything. I feel it really prepared me for the nclex. Good luck!!
