NCLEX Practice Questions

Published

Hello Everyone! My NCLEX exam is only a few weeks away now and I honestly still feel unprepared. I don't know if it's just because of my lack of confidence or terrible anxiety but I just want to ask everyone: How many NCLEX questions do you do every day? I'm only using my Saunders CD 5th ed. to do the questions and some practice questions online in the Nurselabs. Here is what I usually do:

  • Quizzes on the Saunders (10 questions per quiz)- I do that about 3 to 4 times with all the content area or just specific topics
  • Online NCLEX practice exam in the Nurselabs (ranging from 20-50 questions per exam)- I do that about 2 to 3 times with specific areas or comprehensive
  • Then lastly, I do the Exam on the Saunders CD (ranging from 50-100)- once daily; comprehensive

Am I doing enough questions? My worry is that most of the time I'm not doing 75-265 questions straight and I feel like I'm running out of time to start getting used to taking an exam like that. Please share your thoughts about it. I would also like to hear how you studied when your exam was only a few weeks away.

Saunders is great for content, but most of us did other review courses as well. I did Suanders, the 35 page study guide that is floating around on this forum and Kaplan.

The average is around 100-200 questions a day. I did almost 3000 practice questions before I took the test, and I passed. Kaplan is good because the readiness test will let you know if you are in the ballpark, and it teaches strategies for answering the questions. Others swear by Hurst, but I think it is more content oriented and you have that with Saunders.

No one but you knows if you are prepared, and no one ever feels prepared, but my opinion is that you probably need to do more. I know these courses are expensive, but so is retaking the NCLEX. Personally, I never would have passed doing just Saunders.

Thank you so much for replying :) I forgot to mention that I use other resources as well. I also have the Kaplan Book, and another book from attending an in-class NCLEX-based review. My biggest concern is that yes, I only have the Saunders CD to do practice questions plus from the Nurselabs. My subscription with Kaplan was up over 2 months before my testing date so I really do feel like I'm unprepared. Do you know any other resources of free NCLEX practice questions online?

Thanks again! I appreciate it.

THe free practice questions I looked at were not representative of the test. My suggestion is to call Kaplan. Explain that you purchased the tests and were unable for whatever reason to utilize them before they expired. Perhaps they will extend it for you.
