Still going bananas over here waiting for my results over here but I'm just curious since their are slight variations in every book on lab values. I memorized Potassium as 3.5-5.0 but noticed I had patents with 3.2 potassium levels on my NCLEX a couple of times. Now I'm worried that 3.2 is considered normal for NCLEX purposes. What do YOU consider the normal potassium ranges to be? I thought because of the range variations that if a patient had irregular labs on the NCLEX they would be obvious and way off but I didn't find this to be the case.

Haven't taken the exam yet, but as logic would tell me, potassium has pretty "clean" values. I would say that anything under 3.5 is low, anything over 5.0 (or 5.1 in some cases) is high. clean cut, not reading into it for more then it is...
that's my opinion...

yeah,3.5 --5.1. that's what i know. besides there is long distance of 3.3, 3.4 between 3.2 and 3.5
