HAPPY NEW YEAR NURSES!!! :welcome:2008... IM THINKING & CONSIDERING TO TAKE NCLEX HERE IN THE PHIL. BUT I AM NOT A CGFNS PASSER,CAN I TAKE THE EXAM WITHOUT A CGFNS CERTIFICATION?

Welcome to allnurses.com. :balloons:

Well, first of all you do not need to be a CGFNS passer to be eligible to take NCLEX. Never has, ever. It's a misconception. It is the individual State BON or BRN that says that a certain applicant is eligible to take the NCLEX. The CGFNS Certification is just one of the req'ts that the State BON requires. Majority don't even need it anymore. At most it is only CGFNS' Credential Evaluation Service (CES) that is only needed and a few States don't even need anything at all coming from CGFNS.

You need to apply for licensure to a specific State BON or BRN then they may either ask for a) a CGFNS Certitication, b) CGFNS CES or c) they do their own transcript evaluation.

Each State BON/BRN will have their own rules and policies so you need to go to their website and read their instructions for foreign-educated nurses. DO NOT DO anything that they are not asking for. If they do their own transcript evaluation then just do that. If they require just the CES, why apply for the Certification program?

1st step is to just pick a State then go to their respective BON or BRN website and download their application forms and follow their instructions for foreign-educated nurses.

Everything can be read in our stickies in the Philippine forum and in our Int'l forum. Please find the time to read them first and go to the websites that are posted their and read the instructions.

Moving this thread to the Int'l forum, where it is more appropriate. Thanks.
