NCLEX books

Published

Hey all,

I am coming to the end of my first year in Nursing School and will be off for the Summer. I had wanted to purchase something to keep my mind fresh while I'm not in school for three months and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what books to get? My teacher had told us awhile back to try Saunders first, and if we've mastered Saunders to move onto something else. I'm sure any practice is better than none at all, but if anyone could tell me what books you've used, if you've found one better than the other, I'd appreciate the input.

I have 5 Nclex books. Rated in order of favorite to least favorite they are: Saunders Comprenhensive review, Delmar/NSNA 5th edition, Prentice Hall, Davis, and HESI. All of them are helpful, but I honestly would not recommend the HESI one, (it is the older HESI one, don't know if the newer Evolve ones are better or not). Saunders and the Prentice Hall one are excellent for review, I like the Delmar one for questions because they seem a little more difficult to me. Hope that helps!

I love the Saunders review. I have several other donated books (Davis, Kaplan, Mosby) that are OK, but I really like Saunders. Also, check out the NCLEX-RN Made Incredibly Easy. That's helpful to me in my studies; you might enjoy that, too.

Good luck to you!
