Hello,
I am 30 years old and getting ready to start nursing school. I just found out about the Navy's Nurse Candidate Program. I spoke with a recruiter and he provided some info but I have more questions. If anyone has or is in this program, please let me know your experience. I specifically want to know if you can apply for the program even though you don't currently meet the weight requirement for general Navy enlistment. I figured you most likely still have to meet it but since its commissioning instead of enlisting, I figured I'd ask. Also if you know of any other requirements to apply for the program, I would love to hear them. Thank You!

Hi I am currently in NCP for FY 2019. If you don't meet height and weight requirements when you are in the program you will be placed on the Navy's Physical Enhancement Program at your first duty station. Not sure if not meeting the height and weight requirements disqualifies you from entering the program to begin with

Completing a full military physical is one of the major parts of the application process. You will not be declared "fit for service" if you do not meet the weight requirement for your height, and therefore you will not be approved to fill out the rest of the paperwork. I had to lose about 10 pounds before my recruiter would even send me for the physical. If you have a lot to lose, your recruiter may tell you to wait to begin the process.
