NAU ABSN 2023: Are you in?

I just applied to the ABSN a week ago. On the Kaplan, I got a 74 overall with a 65 in the science section. My prerequisite GPA is 3.1. I barely made the minimum.

When I spoke to the director a few days ago, I was told that 200 people had applied to NAU's program. I was also told that they are waiting for approval for the opening of another campus for ABSN in Phoenix which should come in early February.

I don't know the average Kaplan score, especially for the science portion. Some websites say it's around 68 overall and around 50 for the science which seems too low to me. If those numbers are true and they make the minimum science score 65 and overall 70 like they normally did in the past then out of 200 100 are out of the race right out of the bat.

With my scores in Science, I will be competing for 50 spots if they open the Phoenix program (30 for Flagstaff and 20 for Phoenix). If I include the alternates it might be 75 spots out of 100.

What's your prerequisite GPA and what score did you get on the Kaplan overall and for science? Also, if you have any new information about the ABSN this year post below.

I took my Kaplan last weekend and got 70% overall with 80% in science. I didn't do well in reading or writing, but I did hit the minimum pass score. I have a GPA of 3.7. I know that the ABSN program is super unorganized right now due to their advisor quitting so I spoke to them and they don't know if their minimum score of the Kaplan is the same as past few years.

An 80 on the Science is good. Thats the only thing that matters to me. I didn't care about the other sections of the test. I thought the reading and writing were super easy but the Science was difficult. What did the nursing department tell you? Where did you take your prerequisite courses?

My prerequisites at NAU, I'm currently a student here so I graduate in May with my bachelor in Public Health. But I'm taking Patho this semester and that will be my last prerequisite for NAU. Nicole the girl in charge of the nursing department doesn't have much info. But most applicants have a GPA of over 3.5 and high Kaplan score usually around 70 for science at least. It changes every year though. We find out in 4-6 weeks hopefully.

Have you taken the casper and snapshot yet?

yes I have! I got my score back 2 weeks ago, I'm not sure how NAU grades the casper or snapshot. But Casper goes by ranking I believe so 1st-4th, 4th being the highest percentile. I got 3rd percentile. I'm not really sure how it works. What about you?

I am taking them both today at 6.

Good luck! It isn't too bad, it's just quick questions so thinking fast on the spot. I did my Casper and Snapshot last month so I could apply for priority deadline. Are you doing rolling application?

No, I am applying for the priority deadline too. The deadline ends today. What is a rolling application and what do you know about the priority deadline?

Priority deadline was Jan 10th! Rolling applications is they are still accepting applications till spots are full, but first come first serve for the spots as people hit the requirements.

I applied on the 7th and the nursing director informed me on the 12th that they received my application and unofficial transcripts. Do you have any idea how many people have applied to the program so far?

The nursing director told me that they were able to see my application but nursingcas said that my transcript entry was incomplete so I paid for a professional to enter my grades after the priority deadline. Do you think I made it before the priority deadline?
