MT. SAC ADN FALL 2021

Published

Hi everyone, just wanted to check in with students that will be applying next month for the Mt. Sac ADN program for Fall 2021. Freaking out a little bit as this is my first round of nursing applications, and would love to find other people that feel my pain.

If I calculated correctly and they accept everything, I should have around 85 points. I saw in previous Mt. Sac threads that the cut off is around 77/78, which makes me feel slightly better.

How are you feeling? What are your scores, and have you applied before?

Are you planning on taking the TEAS/HESI before or after applications?

Has anyone heard anything about the Mt. Sac program?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah Mt Sac is using a new point scale so it’s different this year since it’s first time applications will be judged off this new point scale. Go to their website to check the new scale if your using the new one. So everyone stats will be different a lot because they give more points to those with health care jobs and degrees/certifications. They don’t use HESI in point scales anymore so if you meet the cutoff then they’ll invite you to take the HESI and if you pass then your in. If not then your not.

I'm also applying, but I have 78 points. I took the HESI at Mt Sac last year and got a 92%.. it says they'll add the HESI points to those 100 students.. but I don't know what for?

Wow a 92%, that's a great score! What did you use to study?

I think I saw on their website that whoever qualifies will be invited to take the HESI, and then additional points would be added to their total depending on the HESI score.

I don't remember the book name, but I took the test right after I was done with physio.. so it was still fresh on my head. About the HESI.. thats what I read as well. I don't know what those points are for if you've already been selected? Maybe they'll  take less than those 100 students?

Hmm do you know how many students are accepted each semester? Yeah I'm thinking maybe they add it to your final score and accept students with the highest scores!

Are you applying to other programs?

Do they take the TEAS?

No just the HESI

Hello,

I’m also applying for the nursing program at mtsac. I currently have 81 points so far based on the multi-criteria. I believe mtsac will invite 100 top scoring applicants to take the HESI. Do you guys have tips in studying the HESI exam? I have been reading the Elsevier HESI book exam review.

I only have like 33 points cuz I don’t have my AA yet to get me points or health care experience. I have like 101 hours volunteer but they want 200 hours or nothing.?

If I were you I'd work on bumping up my points! I got my EMT license and only worked for 3 months (part-time) to meet the 200 hour mark. CNA might be the cheaper route, but 200 is super manageable esp since a lot of other ADN programs require 1000 for full points.

Yeah I know. They changed the point scales this time around and favor those with wayyyy experience. In Spring I’m getting my CNA at mt sac so that will then give me all the points I need. Cuz after Spring I’ll have my AA and start work as CNA. So I’ll definitely be higher in points. It’s crazy in other colleges I have 50-60 points but here’s it’s like spare change
