Moving

can anyone give me info on moving to the charles city/montgomery county area. i have just graduated from lpn school and need to move like now. my husband is a cheating jerk :crying2: and i have to go. i can't take one more day with him. i know the cost of living in MD is more than VA where i live now, but i have 2 kids and my house is just a mess. i am willing to work wherever i can get my foot into the door. it seems the only ads in the washington post ae for RN's. i'm taking my prereq's starting in january @ a community college online in richmond va. any help would be appreciated. thanx

I am so sorry that you are going through such a rough time, completing your LPN and preparing for RN school is challenging enough. I have no idea about the areas you plan to move to I'm new to Maryland myself. All I can say to you is that I admire your strenght and courage to move on. It's hard and painful especially with children. I wish you the best of luck and God will bless you. You should have no problems finding work as an LPN. I was an LPN for 5 years and I kept busy with agency work, nursing homes, med/surg, operating room---- Hey whoever had a shift. Get busy girl you got a lot of work ahead of you. I'm sure it will get beter----- take care

Thank you so much for your words and encouragement. it's not going to be an easy journey i know, but it's one that i know i have to do. if said i weren't scared, that would be a lie. are you a rn now? how is the cost of living in the part of MD you live in? thanks again for your help.

You will be O.K. just keep your eyes on the prize. I know its easy to say (but trust me I've been there). Your focus is on passing your NCLEX and your children. My ex cheated the entire time i was in PN school. My program was f/t so i was so busy studying  i was in my own little world. It was a bad time--- but I was not about to fail the boards b/c that was my ticket out. I worked 7a-3:30 at one job and ran to my next job 4p-12a, I must of been nuts but I was on a mission. I eventually moved and got a life (plenty of life) I went back for my RN and graduated in 03. I have never regretted leaving that !@#$%. In terms of moving I dont know what your price range is or how much living space you need--- school districts for your kids is also important. You also need to check out pay rates and childcare $$$. Don't do anything irrational take your time and plan ---- but first of all study for your boards---- it will open up a whole new window of opportunity for you

God bless

Wishing you a smooth transition. Good luck.
