Good evening,

Louisiana RN researching moving to Houston. Tele/Stepdown and ICU for 8 years. Certs are currently out, planning to re-up before move.

What’s average base pay in the area (or diffs if you know), and what systems would you recommend/consider safe to practice at?

Outside of CCRN, what makes an applicant more attractive to hire in your area?

Thank you for your time

Specializes in Hemodialysis, Operating Room Nurse, PACU.

Depends on YOE and specialty. Med surg RNs with 10 years gets around $45/$47 per hour. Depending on how good you bargain.

Hi! I just moved to Houston and got an offer for $33/hr (before differentials) for Peds CC and $32/hr for acute care at the Medical Center ($4 /hr night diff and $4/hr weekend diff).  Since all the hospitals are a part of large companies, it's harder to negotiate.  It delayed my start date, but I was finally able to negotiate $35/hr for an outpatient pediatric job at the Med Center.

Specializes in Stepdown/Telemetry 8 years. SICU 6 months.

That’s not bad for med surge. Do they pay more for SICU for instance? Thanks
