moving to Georgia

Hi, I am looking for advice, I am 10 weeks away from graduating from an LPN program in Pennsylvania and have just found out my husband is being relocated to Georgia. My question is, after taking the NCLEX and (fingers crossed) passing, can I apply for my nursing license immediately in Georgia? Or do I have to obtain in PA and transfer it when I get to Georgia?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated it.

Thank you

I graduated from a nursing school in PA too and my husband was stationed in SC and that's where I moved to after graduating. I thought you had to take your nclex in the state you wanted to practice in, so I waited until I moved down here to take the test. I found out I could've taken the nclex in PA before I moved, but just listed the SC board of nursing as who I was testing to be licensed in. Basically you can take your nclex in PA but apply for the GA license when you register. Kill two birds with one stone! :)

pittnurse24 Thank you so much for your quick feedback. I was blindsided by this transfer and possible relocation literally 3 days ago and put into a bit of a panic.

Feeling a little calmer now. Thank you

No problem good luck with everything!!
