Hi there!I'm moving from California to Virginia next year and have some questions about gaining an RN license.First, how long would it take (approx.) to gain licensure in VA when transferring?Secondly, if I were to live in VA and wanted to work in DC or Maryland, can I use the same license to do so? Or would I need to obtain separate licenses for all three (even though I may not be living there?)I noticed many people commute from state to state to work, therefore, I'm inquiring about the second question. Thanks for your help! 0 Likes

Jul 6, 2014 Virginia and Maryland are compact states, so if you get a multi-state Virginia nursing license, it should work in Virginia and Maryland. DC, however, would require another license unless you're working in a Federal facility (you can use any state license in a Federal facility, no matter the location - I work in an Army hospital in Georgia under my Virginia license). 0 Likes
