Where can I make good money as an RN/Paramedic.....John

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

Hello and welcome to the family of allnurses. Enjoy your stay and good luck!

Where can I make good money as an RN/Paramedic.....John

I've met paramedic students that have told me that Travis County is the place to work if you want to make the best money. Apparently they make a lot more here than anywhere else around - nearly twice as much as in San Antonio. As a nurse in Austin, I've found the salaries pretty much stink! Good luck!

:balloons: Welcome to Austin !! I don't know about paramedic wages but have found that RN salaries run mid-$20's. What type of nursing do you do? I've lived in Austin area most of my life - let me know if you have questions regarding specific facilities & I'll give you the 'word on the streets';)

What is Brackenridge like? Do they pay well or should I be looking at St. Davids? Thanks, for the input...............Johnny

Im going to apply for Travis County EMS, thank you for the imput that is the kind of work I love...............Johnny

Brackenridge is the regional trauma center and is (was? not sure) the 'community hospital'. It has a reputation for "madness" & "crazy" and I am considering applying there myself to work in the ER :p . It is part of the Seton network which has a good reputation. St David's is the other large hospital network in town & have heard good & bad, I think they tend to have more variation (of work environments) floor to floor. The pay between the two is comparable.

What type/department of nursing would you be interested in?
