3 months rotation

Published

hi guys, i have been working in nursery for the past 1 year and 3 months..one day during our roll call in our wards after our report, my manager introduced to a new change to our staffing..( this is of course from the above management site) .. they will be sending each one of us for 3 months rotation to postnatal ward... all of my colleague was cursing this idea... and guess what? the first person who has to go for this rotation is me!!!!!! gosh.. i dont feel anything about this... i just feel why they have to do this, i feel so comfortable in my comfort zone( nursery), so used to the dr's and colleagues and now i have to get used to a different way of working style: new faces, new colleagues, new dr's....arrgghh... is this type of rotations happens in your hospital setting too? should i look at this as something positive or negative?? negative as in getting scolded by the doctors and get bullied because you are new to the setting.... one more thing i hate in my hospital is, whenever we phone call the doctors if anything happens to the patient or of anything that concerns dr's opinion, the doctor scolds us stupid and idiot... worse than that he will complain this to the deputy nursing administrator (dna)and the dna will come and backfire us although it is not our fault... does this happens in your hospital as well.... i dont know.. but im starting to feel that i have chosen the wrong career... not because of the patients but because of the hospital managements and the doctors? what you guys think ?

Cross training seems to be the norm everywhere these days. They train you to work many areas then they can cover shortages without hiring new staff. It sucks to have to do areas you may not prefer, but I look at it as additional job security. I am more valuable the more different things I can do.

Try not to take the MDs remarks to heart. If this is new to them too, they are as frustrated as you are working with new staff. Remember you did not always have the comfort level with your current docs as you do now. Give it time it will work out.

thank you so much FLArn.... ur reply really made my day..i feel a lot more better now..i really hope i wont struggle too much at the new place...
