I was wondering if anyone here is or has been through the ASN programs at either St. Francis Medical Center or Capital Health Systems? I'm thinking of applying to these programs and would like to get a feel for them. Any tidbits would be greatly appreciated!

I am currently a student at CHSSON and I would definitely recommend their program. From my research of the NCLEX pass rates, it seems that both of those schools (St. Francis & CHSSON) jockey for the highest pass rates in the county among 2 yr programs - both exceed MCCC's pass rate (the year I had to decide, CHSSON had a higher rate than St. Francis).
I chose the CHSSON program because while doing my pre-reqs, the students from that program struck me as very professional, friendly and they spoke highly of the curriculum.
If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

I'm a graduate of St. Francis, it's a great program.
The first year is the hardest, the instructors seem to be nicer after the 1st year. They prepare you well and go over the test questions that you got wrong, help with testing strategies. ALOT of HANDS on CLINICAL experience. Instructors are always available to you outside the classroom and there are plenty of instructors to receive help.
You get back what you put into it and they definately notice.
They get to know you, you're not just a body, but I stress that, if YOU need help ask, they will provide additional resources and advicement but, if you don't and let it go- you will go as well I've seen in happen 7 times (we lost 3 first semester, 3 second semester and one 5th semester). You have to have an average of 80% to pass otherwise it is a F.

I graduated from MCCC and the last 3 years we have had an over 95% passing rate on the NCLEX. I chose it because when I was searching out nursing schools, I was told that diplomas sometimes had difficulty transferring credits to BSN school over ASN's. I graduated last year and work at a hospital I did clinicals at and love it. It's just a personal choice. They all teach you to pass the same test.

I just applied yesterday. I submitted all requested information. I also take the NET next friday. How was the test if you remember. How was the admission process from start to finish. What advice to do you have for me?

I also graduated from MCCC this past december and I agree that transfering credits to the BSN program is a problem when you have a diploma degree. I was very happy with the education that I recieved and 22 out of 34 students including my self are RNs already on the first try.
