  1. Fcat, my typo sorry. Call Reba not Remy and explain to them you are not in town and to please have consideration for your situation to advise if u made it or not.
  2. Fcat: call the Med Campus and ask for Remy. If she is too busy, leave your name, ID and tel number. She will call you back or have someone call you back and give you an update on your application. I called and they returned my call the same day. Good Luck!
  3. Hi Pixiemom: I did my R hand first. My L hand did not have a problem 2 years later. If you have someone to bath you and feed you for the first couple of days, you can do both and get it over with. It depends on your strength recuperating from pain and you will not be able to use your hands until they remove the stiches. Then you will get a splint. Full recovery is about 1 month. Good Luck!
  4. Your right, I should check just in case. I am so super happy for you!!!! I wish you the best in your studies!!!!
  5. diaprincess33142: I am so happy for you! :yeah:What was your TEAS and GPA? I am trying to raise my GPA with HSC0003 this summer. I am now trying to get into Mercy Hospital. I am putting everything into their test to pass it.
  6. Pixiemom: I had the surgery in both hands already. Your surgery should be outpatient and go home the same day with pain killers for the 1st couple of days. If you are R-Handed, start writing with your left now and practice, practice, because it will be a challenge if you wait till surgery day to figure out how to even write your name with your L-Hand. Remember to do your post surgery therapy. This therapy will expedite your recovery. Even if it hurts, do the exercises they ask you to do and do them at home also. Recovery was about 3-4 weeks to begin using a pen. But being able to open a jar took a little longer. Good Luck in your Surgery!
  7. Yep, too low for this fall 2011. Linsley program is very well priced considering what other tech schools are charging. Go back again in the morning and speak to an advisor at Linsley. Don't sign up just get all the info and if MDC does not accept you and you dont want to wait till next semester, then sign up at Linsley Hopkins. Its great to have choices.
  8. I applied for Fall but my score is too low. Have to reapply next year after I retake my TEAS. I have a friend who went to Linsley Hopkins and she is waiting for her transcripts to get there and to take the TEAS. If I can get into Linsley Hopkins quicker, I will do it next year. Miami Lakes Technical also offers it and Robert Morgan Technical. Broward Comm College also offers course. The main thing is apply everywhere and get in to the first one that accepts you. Be carefull with other Tech schools that are very expensive. You need to check their credentials to make sure their classes are certified and/or approved. Painfull to owe 25,000.00 dollars and then repeat classes again because the credits are not good when you transfer to a college/university to get your BSN or MSN. It happened to me. The expensive tech schools will take you without a waiting list but you will be paying alot more for the courses. If you dont mind paying more money, then I recommend just doing the LPN and RN at those schools with the degree attached to it and get your degree at a state college/university. Here is a link to verify the schools http://ww2.doh.state.fl.us/MQANEPC/SearchResults.aspx
  9. Dont worry. They advised more letters are going to out this week starting Tuesday, July 5th. What is your TEAS score, GPA and what program did you apply too?
  10. Hi diaprincess33142, I did the TEAS test just to see what it was like, and I got a 49. The test proctor advised to go ahead and apply for the LPN anyway. No rejection letters yet and I'm on standby. MDC advised by 7/15 I should know if I am going to make it. However, there are other students that got higher scores (80's) that opted LPN as another choice in case they don't make it into the RN program. If I don't make it, its ok because I really was not planning on it. I still have 2 more pre req's to complete. I am getting my pre-reqs out of the way to bridge later to RN faster. It was an awesome experience taking the test and now I know that it is very similar to what is in the TEAS manual. I will be better prepared to retake it in the future and get a better score. I can not let go of my full time job and can only take evening classes. There is Linsley Hopkins also around the corner from MDC Medical Campus and also Mercy Hospital that has LPN classes. Have you checked them out?
  11. Congrats and yes. A friend of mine that is an RN said she could not have survived without it. Expensive but convenient. Did you see this post. https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/pdas-really-necessary-350730.html
  12. For all of you that got picked, try and study in groups and please do not worry about no shortages and how will you get in. By the time you are done, everything (economy) is different than when your started so do not let rumors discourage you from completing your career endeavors. If you follow the career path that it is in your heart, you do what you love and love what you are doing everyday of your life, you will be successfull and happy. Whats the point of doing a job and being miserable just because $$ is there. I make decent $$ and I hate my job because it is not in tune with what I love. Don't get me wrong, making good money is important, but more importantly is doing what you love, because the rest, even money, will follow.
  13. Hi PixieMom: I am new here and try and post when I can. Yesterday I went to MDC Medical because I have not heard anything back from them regarding my application to the LPN program. They advised they have been swamped with paperwork and the LPN packages have not even started to go out. They are still placing people in the RN programs and some people that applied for the RN also applied for LPN. I asked how long do I have to wait before everyone is placed and she advised, by July 15th, I would know the final results. I told them that I am registered for fall classes and they need to be paid by July 13th what should I do and they advised to wait for the email if I can. In summary, it will be cutting it close if we get picked to have all your requirements done by Aug 1st. Try and get a CPR class done if possible. Good Luck to ALL!
  14. Wolanskia, please dont give up. I think the best thing we can do is continue to take certificate courses like CPR and other health related mini courses that can raise our awareness assisting patients care. If we don't make it this round, we will make it in the next one. There are other schools out there, don't give up and be carefull trying to do it quicker in a private technical school and then your credits are non transferrable to a BSN, Master and Phd. I have a Bachelor's Degree that I can't apply at my job, huge debt in financial aid, mom of lousy teenagers that drive me up the wall, work in a hostile work environment and I am not giving up. I will push and push till I get what I want inside my heart. I am taking a class in the summer and have 48 CEU's that I need to complete before Sept 1st or I will loose my massage license, plus I am taking a test this August to try and get into the Mercy Program. If I can do this, you can do it again if you don't get it. It's mind over matter, block everthing else out and stay positive.
  15. Its my brother's house and they ask for 1st month rent and security deposit. I rent here also. I wish it was my home. Look at the time I am responding. Another problem with my teenager. I need to stay positive to pass the test. I will retake the TEAS again in the future. If I can't get into Mercy Hosp.
