i swear as soon as i feel like i got this stuff figured out im wrong! lol .. is the ten days of permissive TDY taking away from future days off? my recruiter said I can report 15 june, request the 10 days of permissive TDY and live in temp housing, he said if i found a place the first few days i could go home for the rest and just come back when my days r up.but will this put me in the hole? and leaving the area could get u in trouble? and by not reporting before 15 june to ft bragg is that taking days away also? or are those days mine to begin with since training ends 1 june and im not to report til 15 june? also, how much time would u recommend i give the moving process to get my stuff from PA to NC.. my recuiter said it would only take a couple days but im finding not everything i hear proves true! would u recommend giving it a month? also, whats the best/safest way to ship your goods, do you guys use boxes or get big tupperwear? it seems our stuff goes from truck to storage to truck... im sorry for all the silly questions! its all just new to me

i am going to BOLC next week and ordered to fort bragg june 15th, i was looking into housing.. my recruiter told me not to worry about this until i get to bolc, is this true? he told me that once i check into fort brag i will be put into temporary lodging and will request 10 days of TDY where i can look for housing.. anyone else do this and did it work for them? I think i'd rather have an apt/house set up before then.. he did tell me to fill out the housing form online n shedule to have them pick up my belongings but he said they just store them until i have an address for them to deliver to

I just received orders via email, going to 29 March BOLC, and reporting to Ft Bragg 15 June! anyone else in my boat? now for the uniform, can anyone say what we absolutely need to have before arriving at BOLC? I dont have a uniform store anywhere near by, hoping to order what I needed offline and get the rest when I get there

I commissioned into the Army for active duty about 3-4 weeks ago.. my recruiter told me he jsut put down 3 medcens for me when he finished my application (ones that i had nothing to do with picking and dont want)... if they are beginning to work on my orders r they working on placing me at one of these 3? He told me that it doesnt really matter what you pick for your top 3 b/c they will call you and ask you where you want to go.. (then wats the point of picking a top 3?) Can anyone give me insight on how this process really went with them? Do they call you and ask where you want to go? or will they call me and say you are going to your top pick? HELP!

2months for active duty

i graduated in may and just comissioned yesterday.. im supposed to go to jthis an oblc.. thanks for your info :-)

i going active duty... they told me i may not get them til right before oblc.. and i think i heard them mention possibly getting them AT Oblc.. which i think would just be crazy.. i feel like its hard to get straight true answers.. they also told me i could choose from any of the med centers or hospitals for my first 12month intern, but im hearing you can only choose from the med centers.. so im still looking for answers too lol

Does anyone know for a fact, if as a new nurse, your first assignment can only be at one of the 9 major medical centers? My recruiter told me I could choose from any med centers or hospitals... just not the clinics.. I really want Ft Carson, Colorado, which my recruiter tells me is an option, but a friend who is at OBLC right now, told me it is not an option for your first year.. anyone know the truth?

My contract is written up and I have gone over it, but supposed to be signing today. The ER option is not in the contract at all, just the 4 options psych, OB, CC, and the 4th one that I cant think of right now. I mentioned that ther was no ER option to my recruiter and he jsut told me that it is an option.. Should I have her write i in the contract that it is an option and initial it?

hello everyone 1. Does anyone know, is going to nurse specialty training MANDATORY, or is it optional? 2. and while your there for 4 months, can husband and children come with you and live? 3. Also, does anyone know, is 6month civilian ER nursing before joining the army enough experience to get me into the EMergency specialty?

I just got selected for army nursing and commission this weekend.. I was hoping to talk to someone who has joined the military while their husband is not in the military.. I heard it can turn into an ego thing for them and that it doesnt work a lot of the time.. does anyone have experience with this? ANy married couples with one outside the service and one in: can it seperate you as a couple or is army nursing just like having a regular nursing job (exclusing the chance of getting deployed.. i just mean your weekly work schedule?) any insight would be awesome! thanks!!

thanks :-) in the contract it does say there is 28% tax on the loan money they give you.. after reading it with my recruiter it does say 40k for up to 4 yrs but the first year is one year after your arrival day at your first assignment after OBLC.. I haven't listed my choices yet.. I should be going over final papers and comissioning in a week or two.. But i am looking to go this January 2010
