I HAVE A BIG MATH TEST TO BE ABLE TO PASS OUT MEDS AND I NEED A 90% TO PASS I WONDER IS THEIR SOMEONE TO HELP ME OUT THERE:uhoh3:

Yes there is.

examples f the math are order:synthroid 0.075mg labelreads synthroid 25 mcg(0.025) my answer 3 tabs 2.ordered vistaril 50 mg labeled 25mg/5ml my answer was 25 tsp 3. ordered amoxil 500 mg labeled 125mg/5ml i got 20 ml 4. ordered betapen-v 300,000 units labeled is 125mg(200,000units) pr 5 ml i got 7.5 ml 5. ordered lactulose syrup 15g labeled 10g/15ml i got 22.5 6. ordered lasix 20 mg labeled 40mg scored i got 1/2 7. ordered codeine gr i labeled 30 mg tabs i got 2 tab 8. ordered diabenese 0.15g labeled 100mg tabs scored i got 1 and a half 9. ordered tranxene 7.5 mg labeled 3.75 mg i got 2 caps 10. ordered aspirin gr x labeled 325mg tabs igot 2 tabs are my ansers right cause i hav problems moving the decimal

First off just remember to go big to small like mg to mcg multiply the bigger unit of measure by 1000. To go small to big divide the small unit of measure by 1000.

I write on top of my paper;

B/S = x

S/B = /

1. convert mg to mcg 0.075 mg x 100 = 75mcg

Then using Ratio and Proportion:

25mcg : 1 tabs :: 75mcg : x tabs

25x = 75

x= 3 tabs

2. 25mg : 5ml :: 50mg : x ml

25x = 250

x= 10 ml ( not tsp)

3. 125mg : 5ml :: 500mg : x ml

125x = 2500

x = 20ml

4. 200,000units : 5ml :: 300,000units : x ml

200,000x = 1500000

x = 7.5ml (you don't need to know how many ml the units are in to solve this)

5. 10g : 15ml :: 15g : x ml

10x = 225

x =22.5ml

6. 40mg : 1 tab :: 20mg : x tab

40x = 20

x= .5 or 1/2 tab

7. not sure from you phrasing how many gr are ordered?

8. 100mg : 1 tab :: 150 mg ( g: big to small = x ): x tabs

100x = 150

x = .5 or 1/2 tab

9. 3.75mg : 1 cap :: 7.5mg : x caps

3.75x = 7.5

x = 2 caps

10. 65mg = 1 gr. 65mg x 10 gr = 650mg

325mg : 1 tab :: 650mg : x tabs

325x = 650

x = 2 tabs

I just realized that # 1 is supposed to say 0.075mg x 1000, not 100. Sorry, I don't want to be confusing!:lol2:

Keyz your answers are mostly correct except in no. 2, we're taught that 1tsp. = 5mL so the answer would be 2tsp. (i'm assuming they asked for the answer in teaspoons, that wasn't shown in your work).

We're also taught that 1grain = 60mg but that doesn't matter that much since the Apothecary system is not exact (neither is the Household system but i've always seen 1tsp. = 5mL. If your school teaches otherwise go with what they taught you).

i would keep it to the units of measure given for ordered and on hand.

we are taught that 1 gr = 60-65mg b/c sometimes 60 won't work. in this case 60 doesn't.
