I'm training to become a medical assistant. My medical assistant training is almost over when I work as a medical assistant I'm under the supervision of a RN or LPN Can a RN or LPN fire a medical assistant. I would be starting fresh as someone new to the healthcare field and I was just wondering, I'm a resident of West Virginia.

Medical assistant is not in the nursing hierarchy, at all. I guess an RN or LVN could fire you if they were assigned to do the hiring and firing for the practice, but as a medical assistant, you'd typically work under a medical doctor (or possibly a PA or NP).

Yes they can. It depends on how your employer is set up. Medical Assistants at my clinic report to the charge nurse (RN) who hires and fires all nursing staff for the clinic (RN, LVN, CNA, and medical assistants).
