Mechanical Restraint Training

Good Morning Everyone:

Looking for assistance in obtaining training material/information regarding the use of mechanical restraints/supports for developmentally disabled patients who chronically self-abuse.

Is there a formal or standardized training program of some type out there?

Welcome to allnurses! :balloons:

Check with your state department of mental health/developmental disabilities (or whatever it's called in your state :)). They can provide you with whatever specific rules and training requirements you have to follow (every state has specific state rules/regulations in addition to the national requirements of CMS and JCAHO).

If you're not already familiar with your state agency, it's usually a division of your state Department of Health & Human Services (or whatever that's called in your state).
