Hi Grace! No you do not have to submit the admission assessment if it is less than 14 days. Per the MDS manual, you must turn in any part (if any) of the assessment that is completed to medical records as it is part of the patient's record in the facility. Hope that helps!

Do the 5-day combined with DCRNA if the ARD allows it...

I have also been told different things about admit assessment, I have my RAI manual but I don't find where it states no admit must be done if less than 14 day stay. I have always done a 5day/DC together but I would like to be able to show someone exactly where this is located in the RAI. Thank you for any help.

• "If a resident is discharged prior to the completion deadline for the assessment, completion of the assessment is not required. Whatever portions of the RAI that have been completed must be maintained in the resident's medical record. In closing the record, the nursing home should note why the RAI was not completed."

RAI p2-17
