May 2011 grad!

Who is getting nervous about graduation? I finish in 8 weeks! I set up a meeting with my manager (where I work as an Extern) for this week to see if there will be a place for me once I pass my NCLEX. She just hired 8 new nurses, mostly new grads, so I am afraid she won't have any positions. Better to find out now though eh? What are everyone's plans?? jobs lined up??

Well, I'm already a student nurse intern for the current hospital I work for (for 2 years now!) since the hospital is a HUGE trauma center, I'm sure ill be an automatic shoe-in somewhere in the hospital. Besides one of the directors even let me know exactly which departments will be hiring! But if for some *crazy* reason I don't get in there, I am still applying to many other hospitals around town. I guess nothing is guaranteed these days. Where do you live OP, and how is the job market where you are? My school is out of town, but I work (on breaks) at my hometown in the Medical Center in Houston, TX. Competition is crazy! We already have like 4 to 6 nursing schools located IN The med center alone.... not including the MANY schools around the city! So to already have a job kinda lined up is quite a blessing! Continue bugging your manager though! Congrats to us on our graduations coming up!
