Fractions, decimal points mostly. If you can get hold of a dosage calculation book, do so, and start early. I am very poor in math, but managed an A in pharm math. There are several formulas to choose from, so, just pick ONE and stay with it. My favorite is dimensional analysis. Sounds like a big name for a simple form of dosage calculations.
As far as an assessment test, I had to take entrance exams in basic math and reading to enter into a community college. If a person scored low, then, they had to take the remedial class. I was fortunate enough not to. If you have to take the National League of Nursing (NLN) exam, it will be divided into math, science and english. I would purchase a GED book and use those as practice. Or, get a tutor if you have to. Mostly every nursing program is highly competitive, at least in my side of the US. The higher you get, the better a chance to enter a nursing program. Good luck!
