Math Question!

I vote Algebra. I thought statistics was challenging (but it was social statistics). Can you test out of math? I was able to test out of it and it saved me a huge headache.

I've had both, for the ADN program I just needed algebra (as a matter of fact, I may not have needed it), but for me to get into the BSN program, statistics was mandatory. I needed the algebra to get into the stats class. IMHO the algebra was much simpler, there were math problems, numbers..equations..and so on. Statistics is more word problems, coming to conclusions, with very few equations. I would say, if you don't need it in the future, don't take it. But if you may need it down the line, it couldn't hurt. Just don't go in it thinking it is a regular "math" class.

If you will be aiming for a degree higher than an associate's you will almost certainly need the statistics. As to whether this particular class will be transferable, I couldn't tell you for sure.

If you think you will eventually transfer for a BSN or more, you should check with any of the local universities you may consider transferring to and see if they can tell you whether it will qualify as a statistics class for their purposes. If it doesn't, then all bets are off and you can take whichever you'd prefer!!

Also, after re-reading your post, the most important thing is to ensure that the college you are now entering lets you choose your math course. Be certain they don't have a preference for which "college math course" they require. It'd be a shame to spend the money and your semester in a class only to find out they won't accept it and had something else in mind!!!!
