masters in nursing

Hello! I am still thinking about what masteral to take. I want to be a nurse educator of the hospital,work from 8am-4pm Monday to friday and off weekends and no holidays. I am thinking about Nurse Practitioner or simply take a Nurse educator course. I am currently working in a Med-surg unit and I have been in the U.S for only a year but I really want to take up masteral ASAP. please help me. thanks a lot. all responses will be appreciated.

A MN (Master of Nursing) degree will set you in the right direction for teaching/Nurse Educator.

Hi and Welcome to AllNurses! While most educators at our hospital are slotted for Mon-Fri 8 am to 4 pm - in reality they come in at all hours to do the required education. Our educator has a masters in education. Good luck.

hi. I know that this thread has been more than 2 years old now but I just wanna ask since i am really interested in Taking some Masters degree, to ask these questions:

1. is online masteral course valid in all hospitals or health care agencies? Was it the ame as the classroom masteral degree?

2. How long is the masters of arts in nursing course? a year or 2? or how many units does it have to finish?

3. If I want to become nurse practitioner (i currently am oncardiac telemetry floor plus ICU step down) which type of masters of nursing is best to become a nurse practioner?

. How much will it cost me to finish MA?

4. any suggestions which school (both online and classroom) is good to study MA-N. (Chula vista, san diego area)
