Master's Degree?

I am finishing up my BSN in December. Should I consider going on for a master's degree for career advancement? What would the benefit be? Someone suggested that I keep moving with school (do I need more school loans?), but I am unsure as to the value. I plan to work in critical care.

    If you want to pursue a career in Critical Care, then you need to enroll in an MSN program with that focus. Otherwise, what's the point? It will be unlikely that you can do this online because of the practice requirements associated with a clinical masters. There's one caveat - many clinical MSN programs require prior experience in that specialty because they are simply not geared for novices.

    Are you currently employed? It would be an opportunity to take advantage of tuition reimbursement benefits, but don't expect it to cover all grad school costs. It also may be best to wait until you feel secure/confident as a staff nurse to pursue grad school in order to reduce stress and make sure that you will be able to adjust your work schedule as needed to meet grad school requirements.
