I applied only to Duke; I got accepted and I start in January. Some people take the "throw darts at the wall and hope one sticks" approach but I did not. I knew where I wanted to go as far back as 2004, and every step I took after that was to bring me closer to getting accepted. I was very excited to receive the notification because all my hard work was not in vain.
Do your research; pick a school, fulfill all their requirements and pick another one as your "plan B," preferably one with a different application deadline so you can work on your 1st choice first. I picked Upenn as mine but never applied since I got into Duke. You can PM me if you like and I'll be more than willing to tell you the things I did in Nursing school to help get me in (I am assuming you are still in Nursing school, pardon me if you are not). Good luck to you!

I applied to five and ended up getting my first interview at my first choice and got right in. I did some of the other interviews and that only confirmed that my first choice was a good one. I would apply to at least three.

I felt that doing interviews at places that weren't your first choice was good practice. When you do your first interview you'll realize what things you should've said afterwards. Of course it's always nice interviewing at other places knowing you're already accepted somewhere else, it takes the pressure off.
So true! In my last interview, the guy kept saying that I didn't have enough experience or this or that. Seemed like the interview was going horribly. Didn't bother me a bit since I was already in my #1 choice. Just rolled with it. To my surprise they offered me a spot in their program before I left the interview that day. Still didn't believe it util I got my acceptance letter. Guess I seemed really calm under pressure!

I have applied to 4, all in my home state so I could qualify for in state tuition. The more you have going for you regarding gpa, gre scores, years of experience, etc. the greater the chance of getting into anesthesia school. I don't think that is a secret. I know a couple of people who only had a year of ICU experience therefore they decided to apply to 10 schools. Based on my profile, I decided to apply to 4. If I don't get in this year I'll increase that number to at least 8. That is the approach I'm taking anyway. Good Luck.
