Malcolm X RN Program 2019

Published

Hi all, I am a city colleges student looking to start the RN-ADN program at Malcolm X. I was wondering if anyone could give me a simple timeline of how the application process will go.

A little about me:

Will be taking micro 233 this fall

Still need CNA license

Have not took TEAS yet

Can you all help me out and let me know what I should get done first, prioritize, etc.? Thank you all!

PS. I would hope to start Spring 2019

If you need your CNA license to get into your program then I would recommend that you find a CNA school that will train you in a couple of months.

Check this one out. I wonder if it's far from where you live though?

CNA Certification Training Chicago 217 Schedule

There's a four week class that starts 7/30/2018 to 8/23/2018

If you're able to take this, then you wouldn't have to take the CNA class while you take microbiology.

Get the TEAS text book and the APP and start studying. If you study the book for a month, you will probably do fine. Studying for the TEAS will overlap if you take the CNA class or microbiology. You have to manage your time somehow.

I don't know how realistic this advice is because I don't know your situation. Do you take care of people? do you have to work?

I'm starting the ADN program at MXC this fall. From what I have experienced so far, here's my advice:

Even if you have already submitted them to any of the other CCC schools, make sure you have all transcripts resent directly to MXC because they require their own copies.

Make sure you get all of the pre-reqs out of the way and take any of the co-reqs at the same time - if you are able. You don't have to complete Mico and AP 1&2 until the end of your second semester of nursing school, but I completed all of the co-reqs before applying.

I took my CNA class at ICI and it was an overall good experience. MXC won't process your application until you pass the CNA exam, so you definitely want to get this out of the way.

You can't take the TEAS without getting permission from the registrar, so you will need to wait until he sends and email saying you have permission to do so. I think he will do so after they have reviewed all of your transcripts.

My biggest advice is to follow up with everything. There were plenty of times where I was told I never submitted something, even though I had done months before.

You willl need to take the CNA course and get certified and at Malcolm X the course takes 1 semester to complete and it takes a while maybe a month to get the results that you passed. You should start preparing for the TEAS test for at least 1 - 3 mo ahead of time and take the test early enough so that you can meet the deadline to apply.

I want to start studying for the TEAS and would like to know if anyone can share what they used to study from? Also, if purchased from Amazon, can you share the link?

TIA!

Hi! How's your application going? I just got done on my ATI Teas exam and passed it. I'm on the medical documents submission right now. I was just wondering if do I need to purchase/place an order for the document manager through the castlebranch website?

Hello, by any chance has anyone been accepted for Spring 2019? On the selective application page it says I was accepted, but I haven't gotten any info from Malcolm X about registering for classes or anything in general about the program. I am concerned because I don't know if I just need to wait it out or if there's something wrong with my email and I just haven't received anything because of that.

Hey yeah I have been accepted and am starting January 2019. I got an email on the 12th with instructions. I know we have to do our drug screening this upcoming week, do you know if we're supposed to upload that to castle branch? There is no "to do list" or "requirement" spot for it that I can find. I asked the office but after following their instructions it still didn't work. I'll probably have to try and call again tomorrow if I can't figure it out.

If you don't mind sharing, what were your grades and Gpa like ? And were all your co- reqs done before applying to Malcolm X nursing program?
